Sonya’s Blog - Day 335 - May 22nd - Working Day

It was raining when we woke up this morning. The rain tapered off, but the clouds were super low and it rained on and off all morning. We had thought about going up to Whistler, but it was raining up there as well. So, we stayed at the RV and worked on our various projects. Isaac had to work on a couple of his reports and he needs to finish up his workbook. It is getting to the end of the school year and he needs to start finishing projects and his workbook. Natasha is almost done all of her subjects, she just has a couple of more projects to do. Blake is busy connecting with people and trying to get work or, at the very least meetings with people that might lead to work, lined up for June 1st. I just help out where needed, or read my book.

I am currently reading Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld (a female authour). It is a reminiscence about time spent in Prep School (private boarding school) during her high school years. The main character is Lea and she managed to secure a scholarship to attend an elite boarding school near Boston. Her family doesn’t have a lot of money, which automatically puts her on the defensive when she goes to the school (since most of the students attending come from families with money). It was a very good book. I like that it was told from the adult Lea’s perspective, her remembering her time at boarding school. I also liked Sittenfeld’s writing style. I didn’t always like the choices Lea made, but I certainly understood them, being that she was a teenager at the time and very insecure. A good read, I am glad I picked it up.

The sign finally peeked through the clouds at around 4 PM. I was going a bit stir crazy, so I decided to take Kizmet on a long walk. There is a nice trail, that goes along the Capilano River, so Blake and I took her along that. It was nice to get out and see the sun for a bit.

When we got back, I made supper and that was it for our day. Not very exciting.
