Sonya’s Blog - Day 331 - May 18th - Moving to Oceanside RV Resort in Saanichton

We were pretty slow getting our act together to move, we were not so excited about it. We did see a mama deer come to the water with her tiny, little baby. The baby must have been pretty young still, so small and gangly. I had to zoom in, so it is not the clearest picture, the little one is to the left of mama, who is closest to the water:

That was a lovely sight and it put us in a better mood. We finally started pulling out at about 11, which is perfect since that is check-out time. Our next campground was only about 30 minutes away, but by the time we get all set up it will be after lunch.

Oceanside is a beautiful campground, right off the ocean. We had a lovely sight, with lots of bushes in full bloom. We got all settled in and had some lunch. I finally finished my book, New York by Edward Rutherfurd, while I was eating lunch. It was pretty good, much better than London, but not as good as Paris (in my opinion). It covers New York’s history, from when it was a small Dutch Colony to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The book follows the same fictitious families as they navigate the real historical events that took place in New York. I must say, the characters had incredible luck during some of the more disastrous events of that history.

I then took Kizmet to explore and we found the beach and had a nice stroll. Blake and Isaac must have decided to go for a walk, after I had left, because we met them coming from the other way. Here is the beach:

Isaac being a boy:

I then headed into Saanichton to get some ingredients for supper. It was about a 10 minute drive to the Saanichton town centre. It is a quaint little town, with lots of nice little shops and coffee places.

I came back and started to prep supper, so Blake took the kids out so I could work uninterrupted. I prefer to have the place to myself when I am cooking, but it is a necessity now with our tight quarters. I was making one of our favourite dishes, Cajun Dirty Rice. I guess this version that I make, is the healthier version. I wouldn’t know, as I have never had an original version. This one is super tasty, so I stick with it and my whole family loves it. It doesn’t sound good, but it is. It is ground turkey, cooked with vegetables and spices and then mixed together with cooked rice. Super easy, pretty healthy and very tasty.

We just had a quiet night after that, as we have to pack up again tomorrow and get on the ferry.

Kizmet having a well deserved rest after a busy day:
