Sonya’s Blog - Day 323 - May 10th - Cannon Beach

Blake and I wanted to see the Puffins and the best time to do this is in the morning. We asked the kids if they wanted to go, and they said yes, but then didn’t get up in time. We left without them. It was a bit chilly at 7 AM, but at least it wasn’t windy. The birds were very active adn we had fun watching them. It was hard to tell which was which, but there was an organization there that helped us identify them. There are the common seagulls, so those are easy. The white bellied smaller birds are called Muirs. The black bellied ones with the orange beak are the Tufted Puffins and the all black are the Cormorants. Hung out at Cannon Beach. Saw the puffins, Muir, cormorants and seagulls and eagles. While we were watching all the birds suddenly flew off Haystack Rock, all at once. We couldn’t figure it out, until a couple of seconds later when two Bald Eagles swooped onto the scene. It was pretty cool. My pictures are not the best, but you can see the exodus and the entrance of the eagles.

All the houses/cottages that line the beach. We looked at the selling price for one and it was 3 Million!

When we were done watching the birds, we walked on the beach a bit more and then headed back to see if our lazy kids were up. They were still in bed and we had been gone for over an hour. We woke them up and had some breakfast.

Blake was doing lots of job searching, so the kids did some school work. Natasha has finished two subjects and would really like to finish the rest and be done with it for the year. Isaac still has a bit to do, but nothing too bad. We need to help him refocus and get it finished.

When we needed a break we walked into town for groceries. Natasha stayed behind, because she didn’t feel like going. We went to the local dog store and got Kizmet a doggy custard cup, which she thought was fantastic. Isaac got himself a treat at the local candy store, it was very hard for him to choose, but he managed. We went to the grocery store and outside they have one bench for Democrats and the other for Republicans. Blake and Isaac chose the Democrats bench:

We walked back to the RV after getting our groceries and started on supper. While we were making supper, Isaac started the fire. We had our supper and then sat around the fire for the remainder of the evening.
