Sonya’s Blog - Day 315 - May 2nd - Driving to Coos Bay, Oregon
We will not be sad to leave California and it won’t take us long. We are only about 15 miles from the border, so we will be driving in Oregon in no time and experiencing their spectacular coast. We do not have a long drive ahead of us today, only about 3 hours. This is great, as I am some tired of the longer drives. I believe that we do not have another super, long drive until we leave Vernon and drive home to Calgary.
I decided to drive, because why not? Blake has been the sole driver for 8 months, so it is my turn to do most of the driving now.
It was a beautiful drive along the coast. Here is a picture:

We got to our campground just after lunch time. It is a beautiful spot, right off the ocean. We got set up, had lunch and headed to the beach for a nice, long walk. Kizmet is allowed to be off leash on the beaches in Oregon, so already we are liking Oregon better. What a spectacular beach:

There is a lovely, natural cove that Blake and I went to explore. It had a little cave and lots of neat rock formations.
There is a rock in the water, behind me. Kizmet is not sure if it is an animal or not, she kept jumping back and forth towards it, checking to see if it would move. She finally had the courage to get right up to it and sniff it, it was pretty funny:

The Cave:

We then walked the whole beach to the breakwater. Isaac was done his school work by this time, so he joined us. It took us about 1/2 hour to reach the breakwater, it was way down there.

We then relaxed at the campsite, had supper and then we all did our own things. It was one of our more relaxing travel days, which was a nice change. Look at how happy Blake is that I took his picture:
