Coyotes V.S. Sharks
We got out of the trailer at around 9:00am and arrived at the big house in time to join Cody, Casey, Cody’s brother, Dan, his wife, Christine, and all the small children for a pancake breakfast courtesy of our host. We all headed straight for the pool after breakfast, bringing along the homemade spray guns Dad and Cody had made the day before. Dan and Christine were trying to give their two boys some swimming lessons, but for some reason both of them have a violent distrust of life jackets. I mean, I don’t blame them, those things are scary. After a while, one of the boys, Blake, found a diver in the shape of a torpedo and I amused him for a little while by diving for it when he threw it. It was basically fetch, nice. I also did a couple of laps, which was kind of hard since it had been a while since I actually swam in a swimming pool. After lunch, the little ones went off
for a nap, the adults played some cards and I did yet more homework. After the kids woke up, they played out in the backyard. The two little boys really loved Kizmet and were all over her. By the time she came inside for a break, her tongue was hanging about halfway down her chest. We had an early dinner of ribs and then the four older boys and I set off for a hockey game; the Arizona Coyotes and the San Jose Sharks. The drive ended up taking a little bit longer than we though, and we missed about half of the first period. Luckily, nothing of importance happened during that time and we arrived just in time to see the Sharks’ no-goal and the Coyotes’ goal shortly afterward. The stadium was almost half empty, so Arizona might not have a hockey team after a little while here. The
free lunch box I got last year might become a collectors item. Good times. Dad was super excited because the stadium has a Tim Hortons, so he got the first double double he’s had since October. It’s amazing how addicted Canadians get to Timmy’s. I mean, I’m not much better. There was a fist fight in the second period and it got really intense, with gloves off and everything, resulting in a dual penalty. The Sharks had yet another no-goal when the guy very obviously kicked the puck into the net, but they eventually managed to tie it one, one. The third period wasn’t very eventful for the first fifteen minutes and it started to seem like the Coyotes were aiming for overtime, but they eventually scored a goal with five minutes to go. We knew it was over by that point, but before we could get very far, they scored their third goal, meaning that almost everybody else got up to leave as well. It was a good game to watch, all in all. I had fun. When we got back to the house, we said goodbye to Cody, Casey, Dan and Christine and headed back to the trailer. Peace out m8s.
