A Long And Difficult Hike

We’re leaving Kizzy at home today because we are hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon where no dogs may venture. We used most of the morning to pack up and get ready and arrived at the head of the Bright Angel Trail at around 11:30am. The way down was a little bit sketchy near the top because of the ice that had formed there from the snow the day before, but it cleared up after a while and before Isaac managed to slip and slide himself off the side of the Canyon. It took us around three and a half hours to get down to the bottom, including a stop for lunch. Unfortunately, that was a bit longer than

we had planned for, as we wanted to get pack to the top before dark. The way down had been a bit deceiving,

because the way up felt a lot steeper than I remembered. It took us about two and a half hours to get ourselves back up to the top, and the icy patches had melted a bit in the heat of the day, so it wasn’t nearly as difficult to get past those bits. My blood sugar dropped pretty low during the hike up, so I was quite shaky by the time we made it out. Unfortunately, the Fountain Shop at the top wasn’t open, so we couldn’t get any ice cream, which Isaac had been looking forward to the entire climb up. I went right to bed after we got home since I was so tired while the others watched Pitch Perfect 2. Peace out m8s.
