Cemetery City

Happy birthday to my best friend, Felicity. She is a lovely sock. Ah, Superbowl day. You have come at last. Thanks to Dad’s football addiction, we’re not going to go into the city today. We aren’t just going to sit on our arses for a lot of hours either. So we set out to take a tour of one of New Orleans’ unique cemeteries. Fun fact, because the city is below sea level and because they get so many storms, people can’t be buried in the ground. The rain will literally cause them to float away. Instead, massive cemetery cities have been created, all with above ground graves, the majority of which are small marble mausoleums. The tour was audio, on CDs that

you play in the CD player in your car. There were two tours, one on the famous families and figures of New Orleans, the other on soldiers. We did about half of each tour, since it was sometimes frustrating to find the tombs. It was sort of interesting and it was different to be touring a cemetery, since that’s not really something you do very often. We left around 2:00pm so we would have lots of time to rest up before going to watch the game. The original plan was to go

to a pub to watch it, since the cable was crap at the campground. But then Dad made friends with our neighbours, who happen to have a satellite dish on their roof and they invited us over to watch the game. I didn’t go over until halftime since the second half of the game is usually more exciting unless one team is insanely far ahead of the other. The score was close though, so it was bound to be at least mildly entertaining. The halftime show was pretty good. I like Coldplay and Beyoncé and Bruno totally killed it but for some reason I felt like it was shorter than usual. Hmm. Also the thing that the crowd did with the big “Believe In Love” sign was great, especially the part where it definitely had every single homophobic person foaming at the mouth in fury. Suck on that losers. As for the rest of the game, I was rooting for the Broncos and Manning but the Panthers definitely had the best plays. After the game we stayed around for a bit talking and I saw the part of the post-game show where my best friend Barack caught the football in his prerecorded show there. It was pretty great honestly, Obama has a good sense of humour, plus Colbert was in it as well so that made it even better. Peace out m8s.
