I Touched A Roach
The morning was quite uneventful yet again. Can you
spot a pattern yet? We decided to go check out the Hobe Sound Wildlife Refuge after we ate lunch. In the visitor’s centre, they have many live animals that you can see, including lots of snakes and turtles and bugs as well as some fish, a spotted skunk and a hawk and an owl. Both the birds had injured wings from collisions with cars and had been rescued by the refuge. I got to touch a baby turtle named Daisy and a cockroach, which was sort of gross but it hisses when you touch it so that was cool. After we finished looking around the visitor’s centre and both Mum and Dad had had a chance to see inside,
we started the walking trails the refuge has. All together, the three trails are only about a mile, which is easy enough, so we set off. The trail goes right down to Hobe Sound, which is a lagoon and it’s beaches have beautiful sand. We met a couple of people from Dallas on the beach, so the parents spent a bit of time talking to them before we continued on our way. On the trails there we tonnes of mangrove trees as well as some cacti and lots of palms. It took us about
half an hour to walk the whole thing, since we kept stopping and got turned around at one point. By the time we got back, the visitor’s centre had closed, so we drove a little ways down the road to an ocean front beach. Mum wanted to go to the nearby Blowing Rocks Preserve, where they have limestone lining the water’s edge, but there we no dogs allowed. Our area of the beach was quite neat as well. There were some small rocks that the waves were breaking against and Kizzy had fun running around. Back at the trailer, Mum and I started on supper. I had to grate lots of vegetables for a coleslaw, which is simple, just time consuming. We made a ginger peanut sauce for dressing and the meal was very good. Shout out to Auntie Suz for introducing us to that one. After we cleaned up, we put on Pitch Perfect, which is always good to watch. Plus Skylar Astin and Anna Kendrick are fantastic. Peace out m8s.
