Miamiiiii
Wow, we decided to brave the two hour long drive down to Miami today. Or rather, Dad decided to brave it because the rest of us don’t really do much driving. The drive itself was uneventful although I came quite close to finishing my book near the end of the trip. Our first stop in the grand city of Miami
was the corner of a street where we stopped briefly so Mum could run out to the Starbucks to go to the bathroom. We had tried to stop in Little Havana, which was supposedly one of the most walkable areas of the city but let me tell you, it looked like somewhere you would go if you wanted to get knifed in the back. There was literally three people on the street and those three people were either drunk or stoned, you take your pick. We drove a little further into the
city to a more, ah, friendly area and we ended up at Bayfront Park. It was a cute little area and there was a marketplace right next to the park where they had lots of restaurants and shops. We stopped to eat at Bubba Gump’s and we ate outside, since we had Kizmet, right underneath a Banyan tree. After that, we had about an hour left on our parking meter so we walked around the area and down to the waterfront. We ended up having to rush back because we lost track of time
but manage to get to the truck at the last minute. Quite literally actually. Then we drove over to Miami Beach to see it’s glory for ourselves. Kizmet wasn’t aloud on the beach so the boys and I went to check it out while Mum stayed behind. It was a very nice beach, with white sand and Caribbean blue water, although it got windier as you got closer to the water and the sand was getting whipped up. It was exfoliating on the legs. After we took a couple of pictures, we got quickly back behind the shelter of the dunes and walked down the boulevard a little ways. It was mostly lined with ‘50s style, art deco hotels with not quite enough neon and some newer hotels as well. When we came back up to the truck, we stopped at a Starbucks for some drinks for the road. It took us a while to get home, but I managed to finish my book and do some math homework before it got dark. Peace out m8s.
