Happy birthday to my dearest Madre. Dad made a fancy breakfast of Eggs Benny for the special occasion and we all ate before it was time for presents. Mum got some tea related items and some little trinkets. She liked everything, so that was good. After that, around lunch time, we headed into Charleston to walk around and see what it’s all about. Along the way, we also called Mum’s twin, as it was her birthday as well. While we were walking, we stopped off at a little market that stretches over three blocks. I explored the

first section with Isaac and Dad before we went to collect Mum and Kizmet, after she had finished on the phone. We decided to eat at a little café that had a front porch area, so Kizzy could sit with us. No one was really all that impressed with the lattes but our sandwiches were quite good. I had an apple, brie and maple sandwich. We wandered down to the waterfront, where a huge cruise ship is docked, and did a loop around Waterfront Park. I mean, it was called a park and it was very green, but it was about half the size of my school’s field with maybe a few more trees. I think the States needs to revise its idea of parks. Then we headed back up a block

where we walked along Rainbow Row, which looks a lot like the pastel coloured row houses in Newfoundland, except that they’re Georgian style. Apparently, it’s the longest row of intact Georgian row houses in the United States, the present structures dating back between the 1720’s and the 1790’s. Who knew. It was painted it’s famous pastel rainbow in the 30’s during a restoration project. We started to head back towards the truck after that. Mum and I stopped at the market again, where I bought Isaac his Christmas present and Mum bought a new leash for Kizzy and a new belt for Isaac. At the campground the boys and I (actually mostly Dad and I), started to make a High Tea dinner for Mum. We made a large variety of mini sandwiches, I made scones and whipped cream, Dad prepared the tea and we set it all out along with a wide variety of sweets. Then we ate and were merry. After that, we were going to go check out the campground’s display of lights but rain happened so Dad ran back to the campsite with Kizzy to grab the truck and come to the rescue. Instead of walking the path tonight, we drove the route for cars before heading in for the night. Peace out m8s.
