A Swampish Garden
Alas, out last day in the adorable town of Wilmington and it is turning out to be a nice one at last. We decided to walk around the Airlie Gardens as a nice outdoor activity, but unfortunately Kizmet was not aloud in as she is a dog and there was an admission fee. We headed out after lunch for out little adventure and the gardens were very pretty. The plants and tress are all dressed up for Christmas and there are lots of different Christmas related displays you can take pictures with. It’s a very
Southern style garden with lots of oaks and Spanish moss
and swamps. The centrepiece is a 500 year old oak tree and it’s rather massive if I do say so myself. There was a small pond surrounded by overhanging trees and it had swans and ducks floating in it. That was my favourite part. We also took a nature walk and walked down to the end of a pier. There is one garden dedicated to Azalea’s, since the annual Azalea Festival was
originally held in the Gardens and has now grown to be a massive event that attracts thousands of people to Wilmington. It was fun to walk around the gardens and we saw some cute lizards as a bonus. By the time we headed back, the sun was already starting to go down so we played a quick game of Head’s Up by Ellen before dinner and then the boys and I watched an episode of the Flash while we did the dishes. I then went to watch some Benedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe interviews with Mum since she was laughing at them so hard and since I love those guys. Peace out m8s.
