Training For The Ballet, Potter?
Today was the day of the ballet but we didn’t just want to stay stuck inside all day so we drove a while to the little town of Southport. We got there at lunch time and wanted to eat at the little teahouse Mum had read about but it was unfortunately closed for a private event. Instead we walked down a few blocks to a café. The town is very quaint and Mum and I wanted to check out a few of the shops after we ate. The café we chose was very cute and my thai chicken salad and hot chocolate were quite delicious. After the meal, Isaac and I played a game of chess at which I kicked his butt, while Mum and Dad walked Kizzy down to the water and back up. Then we checked out an organic food store along the way back, which was next door to a hair salon where I wanted to get my hair cut and dyed a vibrant blue, but we didn’t have time and plus, Mum doesn’t really want me to dye my hair. She thinks it might not look good. I may have mentioned that before. We also checked out a boutique where Mum did some shopping and then we hopped back in the car to drive back for dinner. The play started at 7:00pm and was being put on by a college drama department. Almost half the crowd was made up of friends and family of the performers. The ballet was really good, although there were a few stumbles. I think one girl screwed up her ankle when she fell the first time because she fell again right before intermission. It very much followed the original storyline but they did add in a voice over at the beginning to establish the fact that it was taking place in North Carolina, 1865 and they also had the Mouse King’s army fight the Yankees in the little girl’s, Ellen’s, home after a party. They also were selling really good cookies. I quite like the Nutcracker, it’s one of my favourite productions, so I though it was fantastic. Peace out m8s.
