A Parade Of Christmas

Well, the morning was rather uneventful once again. Dad’s still coughing like crazy and we had to discuss Florida options, since Mum is fervently against going to Orlando but Dad and us children would, of course, like to. In the end, we didn’t decide on anything really but we did figure out that it’s really super expensive, since it’s DisneyWorld. It took us a while to get out in the afternoon and when we did, we had to stop at a shoe store so Isaac could buy some new shoes. I mean, we bought him new ones in Chicago but he’s managed to wreck them in the

short span of four months. It’s a pretty impressive feat, I know. Well I stayed in the car with Kizmet while the parents and Isaac went into get some footwear and it ended up taking an hour and a half. Mum bought two new pairs of boots and both Dad and Isaac got new pairs of running shoes. Isaac’s are bigger than Dad’s now. We then drove forty minutes to Carolina Beach. Well, it was a nice day but there was a cold wind blowing off the water so we didn’t stay long, just long enough for Kizzy to run around a bit and then try to make a break for it. After that we found a parking spot that was ideal for the Christmas parade coming later, opened some windows for the dog and walked a couple of blocks over to Michael’s Seafood. The restaurant was Michael’s career but

he passed away as a result from complications thanks to his Cystic Fibrosis, in 2013. His wife and children are keeping the restaurant open in his memory and his chowder was voted best in North Carolina. The chowder was indeed very good, it had lots of stuff in it, as was the Greek flounder I had for my main meal. When we walked back to the truck we stopped at a drug store for some emergency cough syrup and chocolates to eat while we waited for the parade. I practiced my handwriting while we waited for it to start and we all listened to Harry Potter. The parade was pretty good, if kind of really disorganized. A lot of the groups were spread out and there seemed to be people that had just entered the parade because they had a golf cart/very fancy car and felt like showing it off. My favourite parts were when there were llamas dressed up like angels and when there were all these old VW Bugs covered in lights. They were also throwing out candy and one kid gave Isaac a Mountain Dew, so that part was fun as well. I still like the Rocky parades better. Peace out m8s.
