Today is our last day in the grand city of New York. Mum came with us today and our first order of business when we got into town was to the New York Public Library to see it’s majesty. It is quite marbley, columny and staircasey with the addition of many ornate wooden bookshelves. I made friends with the lions out front and bought a bookmark and a book log, which was stamped with the Public Library logo, at the gift shop. Next, we trekked on over to Grand Central Station to see it’s famousness for ourselves. Well it is indeed grand and central. There are some pretty fancy restaurants in there, most of the walls and floor are made of marble and the

ceilings in the main room are about fifty to sixty feet high. Also, when they designed train stations in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they loved the wide, straight staircases, many columns of the ionic kind and massive chandeliers or ceiling murals. It was a beautiful building however. After that, we started in the direction of the Museum of Modern Art, since I wanted to see Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night since it’s my favourite painting by a famous artist. Rockefeller Centre was along our route, so we stopped there as well, to check out the skating rink, which was in the movie Elf, the Rockefeller Building and all the world flags. Isaac also went in the LEGO store, since it was there. We spent about an hour at the museum, since we were really only there for the one attraction. Modern art starts to get really weird and really simple looking once the

20th century hit, especially Picasso’s stuff, so the post-

impressionist stuff was really the only stuff I thought worth looking at. I also found some paintings painted in 1888, which is part of a project I am doing for my grandpa. He wants me to find 8 things that were invented, done, etc. in the year 1888. The reason

for all the eights is because he wants me to take grade 8 piano when I get back, but I want to be

finished with my grade 7. The museum directory said that they also had Andy Warhol’s famous soup cans, but it was a temporary exhibit and we just missed it. After the museum we stopped at a

very popular food cart, The Halal Guys, and bought some beef shawarma and falafel sandwiches to eat. As it turned out, they were very messy and I probably spilt about 5% of mine on the ground for the pigeons to enjoy. After that, there wasn’t all that much left for us to do except walk back to the train station, since we had done all we wanted to do. I bought a NYC bag at a shop on the way back, which is my bigger souvenir from the big city. We did get to see the National Debt billboard on the way back, which is always going up. It’s at a few trillion dollars as of right now. Speaking for the United States of America, oops. Back at the trailer, we hung out with Kizkiz and watched a movie. It was a good day. Peace out m8s.
