Sonya's Blog - Day 102 - October 2nd - Traveling to Belliveau Cove
Today we head to Belliveau Cove. Blake has many relatives in this area and we are off to visit with them for a few days. These relatives are from his Mother's side of the family. Many cousins and also his Great Aunt, Tante Marguerite. She was Cathy's (Blake's Mum) Mother's sister. Of the 5 siblings she is the only one left and is 94.
It is not a really long drive, but some of the highways are not the greatest and we will be going slowly on those. It stopped raining while we were packing up, so we were grateful for that. Due to how wet it was, it took a little longer to pack up. We got on the road right before it started raining again, so that worked out well.
Once we got off the main highway, it was a very narrow road with lots of pot holes. It was a little unnerving to be passed by cars, but passing semi's was terrifying. There was no shoulder, so no buffer. Thankfully, the highway was not really busy.
We stopped in Digby to grab some lunch and drinks and then continued on our way. We just stopped at Tim Horton's because it was right off the highway next to a Walmart, so there was a big parking lot for our rig.
We arrived in Belliveau Cove about an hour later. Michel must have been watching for us because as soon as we came over the rise he came out waving his arms so we knew where to pull in. We have been to Michel and Mariette's house before, but the last time was 10 years ago when Isaac was 11 months old, so it was good to have the reminder of where we were to turn. Blake turned in, but the driveway is quite narrow and the tree's were quite low. We managed to finally get pulled in enough so that the school bus behind us could pass!
We went in to visit and introduce the kids, as they do not remember anyone, except from Christmas letters and cards. Mariette's cousin is visiting from Vancouver right now, Lise, so we all got to meet her as well. Natasha settled in talking to Lise and Isaac started "helping" Mariette make the pie.

Once everyone was settled, Michel, Blake and I went back out to maneuver the rig back onto the highway so that we could back it into the driveway. Good times! Mariette had to come out and help too, because we had to stop traffic in order to do this. We waited until nobody was coming, but it didn't take long for cars to be backed up both ways. It is a very busy road. We managed, but it took a lot of pulling forward and backing up to get the RV where it was supposed to be. In the meantime we pruned both trees for them, but not well! It took us over an hour to get it where we wanted and all set up, and as we were cleaning up the inside Michel decorated the outside for us! It looks great, don't you think. Celebrating Blake and the kids Acadian heritage.

We went back inside and had a really good dinner of spaghetti and chicken. It was warm and cozy and the food was fantastic, so that was great. It was about 8 degrees outside and windy, so it was one of our chillier setting up sessions! I was chilled to the bone, so it was nice to get warmed up and fed to boot! Amazing.
After supper we gave a tour of our RV. They were all amazed at the size of it and how big it is once all the slides are out. It really is very large, but with four of us living in it we fill it up. I am not sure if it would be comfortable if we wre traveling something smaller for the year. I am sure we could manage, but we would really be on top of one another and it probably would make the trip a little less enjoyable. Plus, we are spoiled.
We spent the rest of the night visiting and catching up and then called it a night. We had to turn on the furnace in the RV to get ready for bed, it was sooooo chilly!!!
