'Round The Bay And Into Town

Well after a long night of not very much sleep at all thanks we got up and went down to the lounge on the ferry for some breakfast. I only went down an hour before we docked and just had a muffin to eat. It took forever to dock but they were very efficient about getting the cars off, so we were on our way quite soon. We had a rather long drive to St. John’s so I settled down with my book and immediately we stopped to take a picture with the Welcome To Newfoundland sign. It’s my favourite when that happens. We got our pictures and I took a photo of a biker dude with his Harley. We only stopped once on the rest of the drive, just for a Timmy’s. We got to our friend’s house at around 1:30ish. Maureen and Peter have been my parents friends for like seventeen years and we decided it would be a good idea to visit them on our little trip here. I also get along with their daughter, Madeleine, who’s two years older than me and Isaac gets along with their dog, Gigi, of course. Maureen was the only one home when we arrived, since it was a Thursday so the other two were at school or work. We caught up until Maureen went to pick up Maddi and then we set out to meet Peter downtown so we could look around. After we walked down the famous George Street we all got Second Cup while we waited. It’s rather cooler in Newfoundland so hot drinks are now acceptable. When Peter arrived we set out down Waters Street to look around the

shops. There were some really cool island made things, but they were all breakable or expensive so there was that. I really liked this hanging magnified clock but Mum told me that there was “no way in hell” to quote her exactly. When we had gone a few blocks we turned around and came back some of the way on Harbour Street, right down near the water. There were some big ships at port, including one belonging to National Geographic that looked like a cruise. Maureen told us about a cruise ship called The World, where you basically rent a room for a long period of time, six months to three years or something of the sort, and travel the world. If you have the money of course. It sounded ridiculously awesome. When we came back up to the shops the boys headed over to Yellowbelly’s for some food products. We were faster than they expected so we ended up leaving them there and heading back to the house. I got my stuff set up in Madeleine’s room where I was staying and we talked a bit. I also practiced some violin in the basement and tried out their keyboard, which was the first time I’ve played a piano this entire time. I still remember most of Fur Elise and half of Venetian Boat Song from my selection I played for my exam in June. For dinner Maureen and Peter cooked up some delicious salmon with roasted potatoes and two salads, a broccoli and a quinoa. Peter had also brought home some deep fried pickles, which were pretty good as well. Maddi and I ended up going to bed quite late and only because the parents told us to. I had borrowed one of her books as I had finished mine in the car. It’s called Thirteen Reasons Why and it’s very interesting. I read some of that before going to sleep. Peace out m8s.
