Sonya’s Blog - Day 39 - July 31st - Checking out Owen Sound
The first thing we did this morning was call a local RV place about our hitch. They said they could look at it right away, so Blake took it in and I did the laundry and tidied up. When we travel solid for 2 days, some stuff just doesn’t get done as we are too busy moving. The kids were allowed a sleep in day today and I didn’t even hear from them until well after 10, I think Tash would have stayed in there longer if I hadn't of started asking her questions.
Blake was gone for a long time and got back around noon. There was nothing wrong with our hitch, just us. They gave us some tips about what to do when unhooking and we decided to pack up the trailer and move it and set up again. It needed to be moved anyhow as we were too far away from some of the hook-ups and we needed to get the wheels on blocks. When we need to take the truck off, once the legs are all down, we need to put the truck in reverse to take the pressure off the hitch. We have tried this before, but thought we would give it a go and see what happened. When we were all set I put the truck in reverse, but we are on a bit of an incline and it just pushed the RV back too, no pressure was taken off. So, luckily we had bought these fancy new wheel chocks, so Blake put those on and then I tried the reverse thing. Only the truck eased back this time and the hitch unlocked. Hallelujah! Now we have a new game plan, hopefully it works for us.
We then decided to explore Owen Sound and head to Kelso Beach which is right in town. Well it is not much of a beach, kind of swampy at the edges. It did have a nice park and splash park though. We hung out there for a bit and then went into town and explored some of the streets.
We came back to the campsite for supper and I read my book while everyone did there own thing. It was Isaac’s turn to do the dishes and after an hour and 1/2 he still wasn’t done! He had set up the ipad with a show and he was spending more time watching Despicable Me instead of on doing the dishes. Funny kid. He thought he was washing really quickly.
I am reading John Grisham’s The Litigators. It’s good, typical Ghrisham. I think I know what is going to happen and I will, in all likliehood, finish it tonight:)
