37ºC So Basically Death
Sooooo, today I woke up and was hit by a blast of heat from pretty much every direction. The plan was to go and walk around Forest Park the entire day. Well we got to Forest Park shortly before noon, stepped out of the car and then rested in the shade for fifteen minutes. There was a bike path we followed around a section of the park, moving like baking tortoises. There was a lagoon we walked along as we went around in a circle, coming back to the dog friendly cafe near where we started. We stopped for lunch and Kizzy got a bag of treats before we decided to head on back home. When we turned on the truck I discovered an interesting fact. As we were passing a tennis court earlier, Dad suggested we go play a game. I responded with, “Dad it’s like 30ºC, no way.” He proceeded to say that the heat wasn’t a big deal, he’d played in over 30 before and “At least it’s not forty.” The thermometer in the car informed me that it was, in fact, 37ºC plus 90something% humidity. Haha, take that sucker it is forty… almost. We had to pass back through the city on our way home and we came across something titled Slide The City. Mum and Dad thought it would be a good idea to check it out, so we parked Sterling and slid out, back into the great heat. We had to walk a few blocks before we arrived at our destination and Dad and Isaac went to find out some information while Mum and I stayed with the dog in the shade. In their return, Dad told us that it was a literal slip and slide stretching a few block of St. Louis and it travels though the States. Apparently, this is the first year STL has hosted it. Unfortunately the ticket were all sold out, so we couldn’t cool down but Union Station was across the street so we went to see what it looked like. The inside looked like a typical train station, with lots of bars on the ceiling. It had none of the grandeur of KC’s Station, but it was a beautiful building all the same. After everyone had sufficiently explored the inside, including Kizmet, we finally went home. The boys went to the pool to cool off and I had a long cold shower before I finished How I Met Your Mother on Netflix. It was so good guys, so good. After dinner, we were going to go to the lantern ceremony at the City Botanical Gardens, but it was really late, still really hot and the entry fee was really expensive. We ended up staying in and watching Corner Gas after Dad made us some milkshakes. Thanks Dad. I’m off to bed, peace out m8s.
