Sonya’s Blog - Day 6 - Sunday, June 28th - Driving to Buffalo, Wyoming

Today was a driving day! So we had to pack up and get the RV ready for the road. I taught Natasha how to make the latte’s this morning, so we had some for the road. Well Isaac got a steamed milk. She did a good job, just needs to make them a little hotter next time.

We thought our drive would only be 5 1/2 hours, but about 2 hours into our drive we realized we were going to the wrong spot and our drive would be 6 1/2 hours. It all worked out because we were just going farther along on the same highway, so our arrival was going to be later than we expected. Blake had convinced himself we were going to the Big Horn KOA near Sheridan. I had to look up the exact one while we were on the road as there were two close together and it turned out we were not going to either one of those, but to Buffalo instead. It is a nice quiet KOA on a creek with a swimming pool. They have a deluxe campsite that has a full fenced in yard with a BBQ, patio and a hot tub!!! Alas, we did not book that one as we are only here one night, but it is right across from us. I will try and get a pic in the morning, it is too dark right now.

It was quite a bumpy road on the way out and we are having some RV issues. The first issue was that our fancy coffee maker bounced off the counter and spilled it’s coffee beans everywhere. It was pretty messy, but cleaned up okay and the coffee maker still works! Our other issue is our bike rack. Our bikes must be too heavy for our bike trailer that is attached to the back of our trailer because it is bending and the bolts are warping. So we will need to do something about that if we don’t want to lose our bikes. For now we have taken 2 off and will put them in the trailer when we travel, not ideal but better than losing the new bikes.

We stopped in Bozeman, Manitoba for lunch at Dave’s Famous BBQ Pit. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and it had a real hunting lodge feel to it. Plus it had a gigantic parking lot that allowed us to park our RV in it. Kizzy waited for us in the RV as it stays much cooler than the truck and it was already smoking hot out - it reached 36 degrees C today! I had the catfish tacos and they were super tasty and I like catfish, who knew.

Just after we left Bozeman we saw a huge grass fire, 1/2 the hill was on fire and burning hot. We were all too busy watching it as we drove past to think about getting a picture.

I took over driving for the last hour and 1/2 of the trip and drove it into the campsite again. It is super easy if it is a pull-thru. We are sitting around having a campfire right now and the kids are eating the smores from the kit Auntie Amber got for them. Thanks Auntie Amber!

Talk to you tomorrow.

Sonya
