Romance Novel Lake

Here we are in Yellowstone on our third day. Being and extremely productive family, we didn’t actually leave the trailer until noon, but we did manage to walk the dog approximately five times in the morning and I put up the map of North America on the side of Smaug. When we finally hauled ourselves into the truck, we drove down to the town of West Yellowstone, which is a very nice town, with an old western feel. We went to the visitors centre to look up some hikes to do, specifically around Old Faithful and in our area and then wandered the town to find a coffee shop so we could actually post some of our blog entries, as we have kind of been neglecting to do that thanks to the lack of WiFi in these campgrounds that are, in fact, equipped with WiFi. Our blogging expedition was a success (and I got a huckleberry Italian cream soda) and we then proceeded to go find the little hike to Harlequin Lake. On our way back through the town, I stopped at a gift shop and purchased my keychains for Montana, Wyoming and Yellowstone. The hike to Harlequin Lake was kind of adorable, as it was only one mile return, but the lake was very pretty and was covered with lily pads. Kizzy enjoyed her time drinking the muddy water, as it’s what she does best. We attempted to find our way around the entire circumference of the lake, but alas the path was cut off where it was covered with fallen trees, remnants of a forest fire that happened back in the 80’s. The fire also assured there was almost no tree cover, because all the trees were scarcely as tall as me, and so it got very hot. All in all it was very pretty though, and also very quite, so a good place to visit if you would want to relax and observe trees felled by the beaver population. When we got back to the trailer dad, Isaac and I all went for a quick visit to the indoor pool supplied by the KOA and then I prepared a dinner of hamburgers, salad and potatoes. It is now time to relax and eat some berries and cream, as we must rise early on the morrow. Good night, peace out m8s.
